Chloramphenicol
is a bacteriostatic
antimicrobial. Its action
is initiated by inhibiting
bacterial protein synthesis,
it is active against
Gram-positive bacteria
(including most strains
of MRSA), Gram-negative
bacteria and anaerobes.

A
potent combination for wide
spectrum coverage. |
| Composition |
Amoxycillin Sodium
2 gm.
Sulbactam Sodium 1 gm. |
| Description |
Amoxycillin
is broad-spectrum beta lactam
antibiotic with a bactericidal
action against both Gram-positive
and Gram-negative bacteria.
The bactericidal action is due
to inhibition of cell wall synthesis.
Amoxycillin is mainly excreted
in urine.
A major part can also be excreted
in bile. Sulbactam is a beta
lactamase inhibitor; it binds
the beta lactamase enzymes and
prevent the inactivity of the
Amoxycillin. It has a mild bactericidal
action also but is almost negligible.
The above combination produces
a synergistic effect, hence
provides a quick action on the
bacteria as whole. |
| Indications |
Localised
infections, External wounds,
Respiratory infections, Urinary
tract infections, Skin infections,
Mastitis as well as soft tissue
infections. |
|
| Dosage |
For intravenous
or intramuscular administration:
Large Animals:
Usually 3000 mg to be given 24
hourly by i/v or i/m route.
In serious cases increase frequency
by 12 hourly intervals. 300 mg
for Intramammary infusions.
Small animals: -
Usually 300 mg 24 hourly by I.V
or I.M route. In more serious
infections, increase frequency
by 12 hourly intervals.
Withdrawal times: - For meat:
8 days. - For milk: 3 days. |

Sterile Ceftriaxone
Sodium U.S.P equivalent to Anhydrous
Ceftriaxone 3 gm. |
| Description |
Ceftriaxone
being a beta-lactam cephalosporin
exert their potent bactericidal
effect on the bacteria by preventing
the bacterial cell wall synthesis
and thereby disrupting the bacterial
cell wall integrity. This leads
to the death of the bacteria..
